  • Weekend of Art at the Plantation

    The museum has been buzzing with various artists - both amateurs and professionals - this weekend. We held our first-ever Painting at the Plantation Thursday, July 7th. One of our long-time Southdown Marketplace vendors and private art instructor Donna Graham offered to teach a 3-hour class on painting the front of Southdown Plantation.

    KIDS AND ADULTS CAN ENJOY “PAINTING AT THE PLANTATION” EVENT The first-ever Painting at the Plantation will be Thursday, July 7th from 5-8 p.m. The event will include a 3-hour art class by artist Donna Graham, owner of D-designs Art Studio and former St. Bernadette School art teacher.

  • Intricate Pen and Ink Drawing Exhibit

    PEN AND INK DRAWINGS REFLECT ON “TIMES GONE BY”     Martin Benoit will display his pen and ink drawings from May 16 to June 28 at Southdown Plantation.     His free opening reception will be Sunday, May 22 from 2 - 4 p.m.     Benoit, a resident of Covington, has been capturing images with pen and ink since the early 1980’s.

  • Southdown Marketplace -- April 16th!

    Southdown Marketplace Arts & Crafts Festival is right around the corner on April 16th. This Houma tradition for over 30 years will feature 300 vendors selling handmade crafts and unique art work. The products are endless – jewelry, woodcrafts, metal work, yard signs, children and adult clothes and accessories, home grown plants, furniture, gourmet food products, original artwork and so much more!

    The 12th annual Ladybug Ball was held last Saturday, April 2nd at Southdown Plantation. The South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center and Remax Realty put on a wonderful event! Congrats to them for a record crowd!

  • La. Philharmonic - Star Wars to Stars & Stripes

    Our 6th annual Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra concert was held last Sunday, March 20th. I think our audience will agree that the LPO really outdid themselves this year. Their music selection was superb!
